Alopecia & Hair loss
Alopecia can be described as any form of hair loss from thinning hair to sporadic patches, partial hair loss to full hair loss. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease, which means the body is attacking itself and see hair as a foreign object.
It is advisable to contact your GP to investigate the cause of hairloss. It may be symptomatic of an underlying condition, a side effect of medication or a reaction to stressful event.
Once you have investigated the cause of your hairloss you can begin the healing process. However this may mean that there is no cure and you may have to face up living with the condition.
At the Wig Clinic we are ready to answer any questions. We can advise you on a options suitable to your individual needs.
We have partial hair pieces in all sizes and colours that can be easily attached and styled to integrate into your own hair. This way you may not need to use a full hairpiece. We had great success to date. Detachable fringes can also be used to give the illusion of hair underneath headwear.
One such client had Alopecia for over 20 years and now approaching her 90th birthday decided to do something about it. It was so emotional to see this wonderful lady’s confidence instantly soar- her only regret was she didn’t do it sooner. She went to Bingo that weekend for the first time in ages.
It is not a decision that one takes lightly – many of our clients have been battling with hairloss for many years and have toyed with the notion of wearing a wig or hairpiece. When you eventually make a consultation you will be amazed at the immediate impact. Often wigs or hairpieces are worn to occasions, weddings, social outings, and removes that stress often surrounding these events in the past. The advent of hair extensions and celebrities experimenting with wigs and hair pieces has removed the stigma. Now it has become more social acceptable to wear them- although in most cases no one is none the wiser!
We know this can be a very traumatic time for you- we are at the other end of the phone.
Our consultations are free of charge and it is always good to talk and explore all your options.
We offer consultations to men suffering from Alopecia. Contact us for a private appointment.
